Caribbean - Carol's Worldwide Cruise Port Itineraries
(Includes all 17 Caribbean island/countries in one app.) Take your
itineraries with you on your next cruise!
If you have never been to Key West before, you should know that it is very
congested getting around motorized. It is highly recommended you take
either the Conch Train Tour or the Old time Trolley, first, to get your
bearings, some history, and find out where the attractions are. You can
always
do the Duval Crawl (shopping and imbibing) later at your own
pace--but, be sure to be at Mallory Square at sunset! If you're on a cruise
ship..you will have a full day with these suggestions. If you've been here
before, try something new--there are many other attractions to explore.
Next, DONT MISS MALLORY SQUARE SUNSET CELEBRATION
and all of the shenanigans that occur there at sunset. It might be the
highlight of your Key West itinerary! And truly... you have never seen a
more beautiful sunset than from Mallory Square! Don't miss it!
After your introductory tour to most of the island's attractions via
the Conch Tour or Old Time Trolley, start down Duval Street on foot and
shop..shop..shop. (or at least enjoy reading the tee shirt inscriptions!).
I always know that I'm almost at the end of my shopping tour when I reach
the Irish Pub. Always.. I stop in for a cold beer.. then make it back up
the other side of Duval and shop... shop.. shop!.
The Duval Street Crawl
Another
option for an island tour is Old
Town Trolley, similar to the
Conch train.
You tour all the main points of interest, only with the
trolley, you have the option of hopping on and off. So you can buy one
ticket, and use it all day as your own taxi to all of the places of
interest!
This comfortable trolley motors past 100 points of interest, with 10
locations to stop off at and re-board. ($12 to $25, no reservations).
The Conch Tour Train is an open-air, canopied, orange and black trackless train that snakes
around the island for an informational tour.
The
tour begins at the Front Street Depot and ends right behind it in Mallory
Square. Once you have your ticket, climb on board and take your seat, as you
are about to embark on an enlightening 90-minute journey through time.
During the tour, the train will make one loop through Old Town Key West.
There are two stops, once at Station Depot, allowing for a 10 minute rest
break where you will find refreshments and shopping. Bring your ice cream
and home-made fudge back on board to continue your tour. The second stop is
at Flagler Station, for just a few minutes. The second stop is also where
those who wish to can disembark to see the sights and choose to catch a
later train
